Clothing Alterations & Repairs

Getting the Perfect Fit!

Clothing alterations and repairs are something that many stitchers do not enjoy. But we love them! Over the years we’ve seen some amazing things. Whether it’s repairing a pair of vintage trousers or getting that strapless dress fitting you perfectly. Or perhaps it’s just shortening your jeans or replacing the zip, we’re here to help.

If we’ve done it well you should be able to tell we’ve done anything at all (with the exception of obvious patching and darning of course).

Quoting a price

Generally speaking, we don’t quote prices. It’s very hard to tell what needs to be done without seeing the garment on. There is a simplified price guide at the bottom of the page, which will give you an idea. Each job is priced on the work required. The best way to get a total price, is to book a fitting. Once the fitting has been completed, you’ll be able to see how much the work will cost.

You’re under no obligation to continue with the work after a costing fitting, although there may be a small fee to cover the time for the appointment. (There is no fitting fee for going ahead with the work)

Having a fitting

No matter what the item your brining in is, it’s always best to have a fitting. If you’ve never had a fitting before, don’t worry, we always keep everything relaxed and friendly.

You’ll have to pop on the item of clothing that needs fitting (we understand changing is a private thing, and will leave you to change alone, unless you require additional assistance). And then it’s just a case of assessing how the garment fits.

It will be pin fitted to you. Where the pins are added, will be where the alterations take place. You will be able to see what the end result will look like, and it will give us a the ability to price the work accurately. And that is it. Most fittings last less than 20 minutes, but do allow time for a chat.

Alterations & Repairs Price Guide

Please note that the prices shown are “from” and the amount charged for each repair or alteration is individual and is reflective of the time involved to carry out the work. This list is just a small selection of the variety of work we can provide, based on basic garments. Alterations can be performed on almost anything, from jeans right through to bridal gowns.

NB: if you have dropped your garments off at one of our recommended retailers they will charge you their prices not ours, so please be aware there may be a difference compared to any of the prices detailed below.
